Evidence for the Real Intelligent Designer

Welcome Friend–

I trust that you have come to this site because you read the message about the failure of Darwin’s theory of evolution (If not go back here). If so, you may have been like Anthony Flew the world-renowned British atheist mentioned at that site and realize, like Flew, that the evidence for Darwin’s theory of evolution was wrong in light of research during the past 50 years using high-powered microscopes and by other considerations.

You may now feel that the theory of Intelligent Design or ID is the better option for understanding the origin of life on earth. And you may want to know who that Intelligent Designer was or is.

In other words, you may be trying to find out who God is. Is he the god of Muhamad or Buddha or the so-called gods of other faiths? The gods of all these religious faiths died and were never to be seen again.

Consider the Christian Alternative

We contend that the God of the Bible is the Intelligent Designer of life on earth. We deduce this from what we learn about God and His Son Jesus Christ and also about what unfolded in the story regarding the followers of Jesus.

First, the work of an Intelligent Designer was demonstrated through the countless miracles Jesus performed: healing the blind, the crippled, the lepers, those with mental afflictions, feeding more than 5,000 on two fish and five loaves of bread, plus raising Lazarus from the dead after he had been in the grave for three days. The Apostle John supposed that if every one of the miracles were written down, the world would not have room for the books that would be written. In addition, we see the work of a wonder-working God throughout the Old Testament.

Second, we see proof of the Creator God by the very fact that Jesus was crucified and three days later was raised from the dead. Plus, we see what happened after his resurrection and the response of his disciples. After he rose from the grave, Jesus remained on earth for 40 days before ascending into Heaven. Sometime during that forty-day period, he was seen by 500 people at one time in addition to many other encounters with him.

All of the original apostles of Jesus (not including Judas the betrayer) feared for their lives when Jesus was crucified, and they went into hiding. They thought that was the end of him.

However, after Jesus was raised from the dead, he came to 10 of them in person in a room where they were hiding, but Thomas was not there. When those who had seen Jesus told him  he was alive, Thomas did not believe them. He said he would not believe unless he saw the scars in his hands and the wound in his side.

So, Jesus appeared to them again when Thomas was there. When Jesus told Thomas to come to him and see his hands and the spear mark in his side, “doubting” Thomas fell at Jesus’ feet and proclaimed, “My Lord and my God!”

“The disciples’ unbelief becomes an aid to the belief for the readers of Luke’s gospel. By magnifying the unbelief of the disciples, Luke magnifies the miracle. Only the clear unmistakable appearance of the risen Christ could they have overcome such doubt and replaced it with unshakeable faith.”– New American Commentary- The Gospel of Luke

Instead of being cowards with little faith, the Apostles became crusaders who were willing to suffer and die for their faith in Jesus. They carried the gospel message of salvation boldly to the ends of the known world at that time. There is evidence that Thomas took the gospel to India where he was eventually martyred, and Peter was crucified in Rome. All but one died as martyrs for their faith. Only John remained until he was about 90 years old and wrote the last book of the Bible, Revelation

Then there was Saul of Tarsus.

Saul was not an atheist. On the contrary, he was a devout, highly educated Jew and a proud Pharisee in Jerusalem during the time of Christ. He had come to hate this new sect called Christians or The Way, which was growing rapidly after Jesus was raised from the dead. Thousands had witnessed His miracles before he was crucified, and countless numbers had seen him after he was raised. Saul saw how fast this sect was growing and he hated it.

Saul stood by approving of the stoning of Stephen, the first Christian martyr. With the approval of the Jewish High Priest, he rounded up Christian leaders in Jerusalem and put them in prison. He then got approval to take Temple guards with him to locate Christians who had left Jerusalem for Damascus and bring them back to the city. But on the way to Damascus Saul was struck down and blinded by a bright light when he met the risen Christ. Jesus told Saul that he (Jesus) had a job for him to do, which was to become His Christian witness to the Gentile world. When he got to Damascus, Saul received his sight, was baptized, and became the greatest missionary the world has ever known.

Some think that Saul’s traveling companion Barnabas suggested to Saul that he change his Jewish name to that of his father’s Roman name, Paul, in order to help him find quicker acceptance in areas to which they would be traveling. Thus, Saul became the Apostle Paul, and that’s how he has been known throughout the rest of Bible history. This man took the gospel message on trips throughout modern-day Turkey, Greece and Rome. He wrote much of our New Testament, which included four letters that he wrote while in prison in Rome. There he was finally martyred.

Modern Writers

C. S. Lewis (1898-1963), scholar, accredited professor at Cambridge University, famous novelist and former atheist, became a devout Christian in his early thirties. Of his many well-known quotes is this one:

“You must make your choice: either this man was, and is, the Son of God, or else a madman or something worse. You can shut him up for a fool, you can spit at him and kill him as a demon; or you can fall at his feet and call him Lord and God. But let us not come with any patronizing nonsense about his being a great human teacher. He has not left that open to us. He did not intend to.”

In more recent times Lee Strobel was a devout atheist when he was a Chicago lawyer and journalist. But when his agnostic wife became a Christian, he was highly annoyed, and he took two years to prove to her that Christ was not who he said he was: Not the Messiah, not the Son of God, etc. But after exhaustive research, he changed his mind, just like Anthony Flew and many others. He wrote a book called “The Case for Christ,” which has sold more than five million copies worldwide.

Conclusion: The great Intelligent Designer is the God of the Bible based on the proofs we have presented throughout this section and the earlier one.

Yet, the ultimate proof that this same all-powerful God, the one who created life originally, was also the one who could take life and resurrect it again. That’s what He did in the story of Jesus. He allowed his Son, God incarnate, to suffer and die upon that Roman cross for the sins of the world. Three days later Jesus was raised from the dead, thus, conquering death itself. Again, I would recommend several books if the evidence so far is not convincing: read here.
